The new Kia Syros stands at dimensions of 3,995mm x 1,800mm x 1,665mm and has a 2,550mm wheelbase. It follows the design language of Kia’s flagship all-electric SUV, the EV9. The SUV has an upright nose and vertically stacked LED headlamps and DRLs. The Syros has an EV-like look, mostly due to its closed-off nose. The air intake section is positioned at the bottom of the SUV. Along the sides, the SUV received plastic cladding on its wheel arches. The door handles sit flush in their respective positions. The alloy wheels have a 3-petal design. At the back, the L-shaped LED tail lamps are positioned on either side of the rear windscreen.
Inside, the Kia Syros gets two 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster and a 5-inch display for the climate control system. Combined, these three displays form a free-flowing 30-inch unit. Kia calls this the Trinity Panoramic Display. Other features on the SUV include 64-colour ambient mood lighting, a 4-way powered front seat, ventilated seats, reclining and sliding second-row seats, an 8-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, wireless charging, and more.
Safety features of the Kia Syros include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Management, Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, a 360-degree camera, and more. There is also a Level 2 ADAS package on board with features like Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, 360 Degree Camera with Blind View Monitor and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
Kia Syros is available in 2 engine options – a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 120hp and 172Nm of torque. Buyers have the option to link this engine with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Meanwhile, the diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 250Nm of torque. This engine also gets 2 transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. Interestingly, the Syros does not get the 1.2-litre NA engine that currently powers the Sonet.
