2024 Kia Carnival: What’s new?

Kia India has revealed that the India-spec version of the Carnival MPV will be powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 193hp and 441Nm of torque. It can be paired with an 8-speed torque converter gearbox. In comparison, the Carnival that was discontinued last year generated 186hp and 440Nm.

Inside, the Kia Carnival will feature a 7-person, 2+2+3 seating layout. Talking about features, the MPV will rock dual 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. It will also get a 4-spoke steering wheel, a 12-way powered driver’s seat, individual captain seats with adjustable leg support for the second row, individual entertainment screens for rear-seat passengers, three-zone climate control, a 12-speaker sound system, and more.

Safety features on the Kia Carnival will include 8 airbags, Hill Assist Control, TPMS, ESC, VSM, disc brakes on all wheels, rear and side parking sensors, and more. The MPV will also rock a Level 2 ADAS package with features like Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Front Collision Warning, Avoidance Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and more.

The design of the new Kia Carnival for India is similar to its international-spec counterpart. Its front fascia is highlighted by a wide ‘Tiger Nose’ grille with vertically aligned LED headlamps and L-shaped LED DRLs on either side. The profile of the MPV is largely unchanged from its outgoing version. The India-spec version will get 18-inch alloys. At the back, the MPV will feature sleek LED tail lamps that mimic the design of the DRLs. The tail lamps will be connected by a light bar.

Conclusion

Being a CBU, the Kia Carnival is expected to cost over Rs 50 lakh in India. It will be made available in two colour options – Fusion Black and Glacier White Pearl. There will be two dual-tone interior themes to choose from – Tuscan and Umber, and Navy and Misty Grey. While it won’t have any direct rivals, the Kia Carnival will lock horns with Toyota Innova HyCross and Toyota Vellfire in India.
