Kia India has added a new high-spec variant to its midsize MPV’s lineup. The Kia Carens Clavis now comes in 8 trim levels – HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+ (O), HTX, HTX(O), and HTX+. The new HTX(O) trim is sandwiched between the HTX and HTX+ trims. It is priced at Rs 19.27 lakh and comes in 6 and 7-seat variants. Additionally, the 6-seat layout is now available on the mid-spec HTK+ and HTK+(O) trims as well.

The 8-speaker Bose sound system, which was previously exclusive to the top-spec HTX+ trim, is now available on the HTX(O) trim as well. The new variant also features the dual 10.25-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, ambient lighting, and more. The MPV remains cosmetically unchanged.
The Kia Carens Clavis is available in 2 engine options. The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. This engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. It is available with an iMT or a DCT gearbox. Lastly, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit generates 160hp and 253Nm. Buyers can choose a manual or torque converter gearbox with this engine. The HTX(O) trim is available with the turbo petrol engine only.
Buyers can now opt for middle row captain seats on the HTK+ and HTK+(O) variants. Previously, this option was reserved for the turbo-petrol engine variant of the top-spec HTX+ trim. The newly-launched HTX(O) trim also gets this seating option.

Prices for the standard Carens Clavis range start at Rs 11.08 lakh and go up to Rs 20.71 lakh. It rivals the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India. Its all-electric sibling is priced at Rs 17.99 lakh.
