Citroen C3X to debut in mid-2024

Key Highlights

  • Citroen C3X is expected to make its debut in June/July 2024.
  • The coupe-SUV crossover will be based on the same platform as the C3 and C3 Aircross.
  • It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine as the C3 Aircross.

Citroen’s upcoming coupe-SUV crossover has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. The automaker has revealed that it will share more details about the crossover in a couple of weeks. Initially expected to launch in late 2024, the new discovery points towards an earlier release. Dubbed the C3X, Citroen plans on loading the crossover with premium features.

Citroen C3X: A mid-2024 release on the cards

Unlike the C3 Aircross, Citroen plans on decking the C3X with a range of features right from the start. The C3 Aircross garnered a mild response from the audience in the cut-throat midsize SUV segment largely due to the lack of premium features. Careful not to repeat the mistake on Citroen C3X, the automaker will equip the crossover with features like automatic climate control, wireless charging, keyless entry, ventilated seating, and more. Other than that, it will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, electric OVRMs, and more.

The Citroen C3X will be underpinned by the automaker’s  Common Modular Platform (CMP). This platform is also found on the C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross. In order to reduce production costs, the C3X will borrow some design elements for the front fascia and the two front doors from its SUV counterpart.

Up front, the Citroen C3X will receive triangular headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. These headlamps will be connected by a chrome strip running across the grille. The crossover elements will be visible along the sides. The C3X will feature a coupe-like sloping roofline and thick body cladding.

The Citroen C3X will share its powertrain with the C3 Aircross. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol on the C3 Aircross produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The latter was only recently added to the SUV’s powertrain.

Conclusion

Citroen will likely take the covers off the C3X in June 2024. Expect the crossover to launch in August. The automaker will share more details about the car leading up to its debut. Upon launch, the Citroen C3X will rival the Tata Curvv crossover along with other sedans like Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and Honda City.
