Citroen Aircross X launched in India, prices start at Rs 9.77 lakh

Citroen is currently in the process of releasing an X trim for all of its offerings in India. The Citroen Aircross is the latest car from the automaker to receive this treatment. Previous Citroen cars to be refreshed with an X model include the C3 hatchback and the Basalt crossover. Prices for the Aircross X start at Rs 9.77 lakh and go up to Rs 12.34 lakh. The X trim is available for Plus and Max variants.

Citroen Aircross X: What’s new?

The top-spec X Max trim is available with a 360-degree and a dual-tone roof finish for a premium of Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. The only cosmetic upgrades on the SUV are the X badging and a new ‘Deep Forest Green’ paint shade.

When it comes to the interior, the Citroen Aircross X gets a leatherette finish on the dashboard along with gold accents. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system is completely bezel-less and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There’s a 7-inch digital instrument cluster on board as well. The gear level has been redesigned. Buyers can opt for a 360-degree camera at an additional price of Rs 25,000. This option is only available with the top-spec Max trim.

Like other X trims, the Citroen Aircross X also gets the automaker’s Cara AI assistant. This digital assistant has been designed to have a conversational flow. It can fetch information like your flight schedule, car health status, booking status, and more. This data is processed by the AI bot and relayed in a conversational manner to the user. Other feature additions to the SUV include ventilated seating, LED projector fog lamps, IVRM, passive entry, a push start/stop button, and cruise control. The SUV was recently awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP.

Things remain unchanged mechanically for the Aircross X.Since it is based on the higher variants, it is powered by the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox (where it produces 205Nm of torque). The lower variant is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 82hp and 115Nm. This engine can only be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Final Thoughts

The booking window for the SUV has been open since last month. Buyers can reserve their unit for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The SUV rivals Maruti Suzuki Grand VitaraToyota Urban Cruiser HyRyderKia SeltosHyundai CretaVolkswagen TaigunHonda Elevate, and Skoda Kushaq. It remains to be seen whether the automaker will bring the X variant to its eC3 lineup as well.
