BYD Atto 3 Evo: What’s new?

The Atto 3 Evo packs a 74.8kWh battery. In comparison, the current model sold in India comes in 2 battery sizes – 49.92kWh and 60.48kWh. The new 74.8kWh battery pack offers a 510km driving range on a full charge, an improvement of 92km. The Evo model has upgraded from 400V to 800V electrical architecture. Its charging speed has gone up from 88kW to 220kW.  As a result, it takes just 25 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, halving the charging time. With Vehicle to Load (V2L) support on board, the electric SUV can charge other devices at a speed of up to 3kW.

The electric motor has been shifted from the front to the rear axle. It produces an improved power output of 313hp and 380Nm of torque. Previously, it generated 204hp and 310Nm. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds, beating the current model by 1.8 seconds. Its top speed is capped at 180km/h.

The BYD Atto 3 Evo is also available in an All Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration. The front motor takes the total power output to 449hp. The torque has been boosted to 560Nm. The AWD model can go from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 200km/h. It uses the same 74.8kWh battery pack as the regular variant, but its driving range is limited to 470km.

There are no big updates inside the BYD Atto 3 Evo. The electric SUV retains the 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, but the software interface has been updated. The boot space capacity has improved by 50 litres, now resting at 490 litres. This is due to the new multi-link suspension design. The repositioning of the front engine on the regular variant has made room for a 101-litre frunk under the bonnet.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, said, “The ATTO 3 EVO proves how big a step we can make as a brand in less than three years. We’ve distilled our EV innovations and our latest technologies into a package that has already proven popular with buyers across Europe. And the result is another standout offering in the class – powerful, efficient and packed with useful features. It’s not a car, it’s a BYD!”
