Bookings open for Audi SQ8

The Audi SQ8 is set to launch in India on March 17. Ahead of launch, the automaker has started accepting bookings for the SUV. Interested buyers can book their unit via the Audi India website or on the myAudi Connect app for a token amount of Rs 5 lakh. Prices for the SUV will be announced upon its launch. The SQ8 is sandwiched between the Q8 and RS Q8 in Audi’s Q range of cars.

Audi SQ8: What’s on offer?

The Audi SQ8 stands at dimensions of 5,003mm x 2,006mm x 1,701mm and has a 2,997mm wheelbase. Stylistically, it doesn’t deviate from the design language of the other two models in the Q8 lineup. It distinguishes itself with a unique ‘S’ badge on its tailgate. Up front, it features wider air dams. The SUV comes in 22 and 23-inch alloy wheel sizes. It remains to be seen which size option makes it to the India-spec model.

Inside, the India-spec Audi SQ8 will flaunt Valcona sport seats with embossed S branding. This exclusive branding will also be present on the steering wheel and door sills. The SUV will get 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. Other features will include a panoramic sunroof, a Bang and Olufsen 3D sound system, ventilation and massage functions for the front seats, and more.

Audi has confirmed that the SQ8 will be powered by the 4.0-litre V8 TFSI engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 500hp and 770Nm of torque. Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel drive configuration channels the power to all four wheels. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds. Its top-speed is capped at 250km/h.

Mr Balbir Singh Dhillon, Brand Director, Audi India, said, “The Audi SQ8 represents the ideal meeting point between everyday luxury and uncompromising sporty performance. Its formidable engine and distinctive S character make it a remarkably complete SUV. The enthusiasm we have seen for our Audi Q8 family in India gives us great confidence that the new Audi SQ8 will resonate strongly with our customers who seek more than a conventional luxury SUV. We are delighted to open bookings and encourage performance enthusiasts to secure their Audi SQ8 early, as availability will be limited.”

Final Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, prices for the Audi SQ8 will be announced on March 17. It will demand a premium over the Audi Q8. We expect it to fetch around Rs 1.50 crore. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Porsche Cayenne GTS and Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 in India.
