The Tata Punch SUV got a much-needed facelift last month. The updated model comes in 6 trim levels and gets updates across the board. Apart from cosmetic and feature upgrades, the compact SUV has also received a new turbo-petrol engine. The delivery rollout phase of the Punch facelift is now underway. The introduction of the facelift boosted its cumulative sales past the 7 lakh landmark.

The new Punch comes in 8 trim levels – Smart, Pure, Pure+, Pure+ S, Adventure, Adventure S, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S. It follows the design language of its all-electric sibling. The front fascia rocks vertically stacked LED headlamps. The glossy trim running across the bonnet houses the sleek LED DRLs. However, unlike the Punch EV, the LED DRLs on the ICE model are not connected by a light bar. The front bumper of the SUV houses an air dam with a silver frame.
No changes have been made along the sides of the 2026 Punch other than a new look for the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the back, the LED tail lamps sport a new design. Unlike the DRLs up front, the tail lamps are connected by an LED light bar. The rear bumper gets a faux skid plate for a bolder look. Therea re 4 new paint shades on offer – Caramel, Bengal Rouge, Coorg Clouds, and Cyantafic.
Inside, the new Tata Punch retains the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the previous model. However, the 7-inch digital instrument cluster is an upgrade over the previous version. The new steering wheel has a 2-spoke design and features an illuminated Tata logo. There is a touch-sensitive panel in the cabin for climate controls. Other features of the SUV include a 4-speaker and 4-tweeter audio system, auto-dimming IVRM, an air purifier, 65W Type-C charging, wireless charging, and more.
The Tata Punch facelift has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by the Bharat NCAP. It packs 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, and more features.
The Punch facelift comes in 3 engine options. The new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine has been borrowed from the Tata Nexon. It produces a maximum power output of 120hp and 170Nm of torque. However, it can only be mated to a manual transmission on the Punch. Furthermore, it is only available on the Adventure and Accomplished+ S trims.
The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated ‘Revotron’ petrol engine, carried forward from the outgoing model, generates a maximum power output of 88hp and 115Nm of torque. In a CNG guise, it puts out 73hp and 103Nm. The CNG model has a split-cylinder setup. Both these engines can be mated to a manual or AMT gearbox.

Prices for the Punch start at Rs 5.59 lakh and go up to Rs 9.79 lakh. According to Tata, it is the fastest car in India to cross the 7 lakh sales landmark. It rivals the Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, Citroen C3, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Skoda Kylaq, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza in India.
