MG Motor India is set to launch the Cloud EV in the festive season. The crossover EV was spotted testing recently, which means the automaker is close to the production phase. MG Motor dropped a new teaser for the Cloud EV, branding it as an ‘Intelligent CUV’ (Crossover Utility Vehicle). Prices for the crossover EV will be revealed upon its launch.

The teaser reveal dropped by MG Motor for the Cloud EV gives a glimpse of its LED headlamps and DRL. A sleek LED light bar runs across the bonnet, connecting the headlamps. The crossover also features an illuminated MG logo right below the light bar. The teaser also reveals the presence of a panoramic sunroof on the EV.
The MG Cloud EV is based on its Wuling counterpart which is sold by the same name in Indonesia. The Wuling Cloud is a crossover between a hatchback and an MPV. The rebadged version of the Cloud EV sold by MG Motor in India is expected to retain the platform of its Indonesian counterpart. It will stand at dimensions of 4,295mm x 1,850mm x 1,652mm and will have a 2,700mm wheelbase.
Inside, the MG Cloud EV will feature a free-floating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats, and of course, a panoramic sunroof. It will have a 5-person seating capacity. Being a premium offering, the Cloud EV will also come with a 360-degree camera and an ADAS package.
The engine and battery specs of the MG Cloud EV have not been revealed yet. However, its Wuling counterpart gets two battery pack options – 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh. The former offers a driving range of 360km while the latter can power the EV for 460km on a full charge. The front-mounted single electric motor on the EV produces a maximum power output of 134hp.

As mentioned earlier, the MG Cloud EV will be launched in India this festive season. We expected it to be priced under Rs 20 lakh. The automaker will drop a few more teasers before revealing the exterior of the SUV next month. Upon launch, the MG Cloud EV will rival the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and Tata Curvv EV.
