Maruti Suzuki Fronx garners 5 lakh sales, first Nexa SUV to do so

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has crossed the 5 lakh sales landmark in India. The SUV was launched in April 2023 at a starting price of Rs 7.47 lakh. By January 2024, it had already achieved 1 lakh sales in the country. The automaker had produced 5 lakh units of the Fronx by August 2025. It is also one of Maruti’s biggest exports from India. In July 2025, it became the fastest SUV to clock 1 lakh exports. The Fronx is now the only Nexa SUV to record 5 lakh sales.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: The journey so far

Maruti Suzuki Fronx accounts for 22% of the automaker’s total UV (Utility Vehicle) sales since April 2023. It has charted in the top 10 UV sales list every year since its launch. In the last financial year (FY2026), the Fronx was Nexa’s second-highest-selling car, closely trailing the Baleno by 197 units.

One of the key drivers of the Fronx’s success in India is its versatile powertrain range. It comes in 2 engine options. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm peak torque. This engine can also be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The SUV is also available in a CNG guise.

When it comes to features, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx packs a 9.0-inch Smart Pro Play+ infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Head Up Display, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. Maruti recently upgraded the Fronx to offer 6 airbags as standard across all variants. Other safety features include Electronic Stability Program (ESC), ABS with EBD, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera and more.

Final Thoughts

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is currently priced between Rs 6.85 lakh and Rs 11.98 lakh. According to current trends, it is set to become Nexa’s highest-selling car in FY2027. The SUV rivals the Tata PunchCitroen C3Hyundai ExterNissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger in India.
