Mahindra XEV 9S launched at a starting introductory price of Rs 19.95 lakh

Mahindra XEV 9S has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh. This price tag will receive a small hike once the introductory offer ends. Mahindra’s debut 3-row electric SUV comes in a total of 6 variants – Pack One Above (59kWh), Pack One Above (79kWh), Pack Two Above (70kWh), Pack Two Above (79kWh), Pack Three (79kWh), and Pack Three Above (79kWh).

The XEV 9S is underpinned by Mahindra’s INGLO platform. It stands at dimensions of 4,737mm x 1,900mm x 1,747mm and has a 2,762mm wheelbase. It clears the ground at 201mm (219mm at battery). It borrows design elements from the XEV 9e, featuring a clean and minimal front fascia. The grille is completely shut off. The LED DRLs are sleek and cover the full width of the front fascia. Their Y-shaped end segments wrap around the vertical LED headlamps. The Mahindra Electric Origin logo is illuminated.

The profile of the EV looks similar to that of the Mahindra XUV700. The door handles sit flush on the panels and pop out automatically. The read end also shares similarities with the XUV700. There are a total of 6 exterior paint shades on offer: Stealth Black, Ruby Velvet, Everest White, Desert Mist, Midnight Black, and Nebula Blue.

The interior of the XEV 9S is all about space, roominess, and premium tech. There’s 4,076L of cabin space inside. The boot of this 7-seater SUV has a 527L capacity with the rear seats folded. There’s an additional 150L of storage space in the frunk. The dashboard flaunts a massive triple-screen setup, similar to the rest of the ‘Born Electric’ lineup. This setup comprises three 12.3-inch displays – one each for the digital instrument cluster, infotainment system, and passenger screen. It is powered by Snapdragon and MAIA.

Talking about the features, the XEV 9S rocks wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, Groove Me mode for karaoke, Vision X (Augmented Reality HUD), built-in Alexa and ChatGPT, in-vehicle 5G connectivity, an in-car camera with video calling, a panoramic sunroof, and air purifier, ventilated seats (front and rear), wireless charging and more. The second row seats have Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) support.

On the safety front, the electric SUV packs 7 airbags, ISOFIX for rear seats, ESP, Driver Drowsiness Detection with DOMS, Secure360 Pro for live view and recording, and a Level 2 ADAS package with 5 radars and 1 vision camera. The ADAS suite comprises features like Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Pilot Assist, Traffic Alert, and more.

There are 3 battery pack options on offer – 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh. The Pack One Above trim, with its rear-mounted electric motor, produces a maximum power output of 231hp on the 59kWh variant and 286hp on the 79kWh one. These battery packs can go up to 521km (59kWh) and 679km (79kWh) on a full charge. The mid-spec Pack Two Above trim also comes with a 70kWh battery variant. This variant puts out 245hp and can go up to 600km on a full charge. The EV comes with 7.2kW and 11.2kW home chargers priced at Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively. It also supports up to 180kW fast charging.

Final Thoughts

The booking window for the Mahindra XEV 9S will open on January 14, 2026. The delivery rollout will begin on January 23. While this 3-seater electric SUV does not have any true rivals right now, it will face competition from the likes of the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Tata Harrier EV, and BYD eMax 7.
