The BYD Seal electric sedan was launched in India on March 5 at a starting price of Rs 41 lakh. Earlier this week, BYD announced that it has received over 1,000 bookings for the Seal. 200 of these bookings were received within a week of the commencement of the booking window. The automaker started accepting bookings for the Seal on February 28. 15 days after the official launch and price announcement, BYD garnered 500 more bookings.

BYD Seal is available in three variants and two battery sizes – Dynamic (61.44 kWh), Premium (82.56 kWh), and Performance (82.56 kWh). These variants are priced at Rs 41 lakh, Rs 45.55 lakh, and Rs 53 lakh respectively. The 61.44kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 510km (NEDC cycle). Meanwhile, the 82.56kWh battery pack can power the electric sedan up to 650km (NEDC cycle).
At the start of the year, BYD became the Official Partner and Official E-Mobility Partner of UEFA European Football Championship 2024. As a part of this partnership, the automaker offered Seal customers a chance to win a complimentary UEFA match ticket and one round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city. BYD is yet to announce the winners of this contest.

The electric sedan is decked with features like a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment display along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, two wireless charging pads, a heated windscreen, dual zone AC, heated and cooled front seats, and more. The Seal EV scored a 5-star rating from the Euro NCAP with safety features like 10 airbags, ABS, a 360-degree camera, hill hold assist, automatic wipers, and an ADAS package.

BYD Seal is the third offering in the automaker’s Indian catalogue after the Atto 3 SUV and e6 MPV. It is available in four colour options – Aurora White, Arctic Blue, Cosmos Black, and Atlantis Grey. In India, BYD Seal rivals the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Kia EV6.
