Buyers face a 1-year waiting period for Kia Carnival

The new Kia Carnival was launched in India earlier this month at the price of Rs 63.90 lakh. Since the facelifted MPV is a CBU import, its asking price is significantly higher than the discontinued version. Despite the rise in price, Kia has completely sold the imported stock of the Carnival, garnering over 3,000 bookings. It received 1,822 pre-orders within the first 24 hours. Buyers now face a waiting period of up to 1 year for the next batch of the Carnival.

2024 Kia Carnival: Restarting the legacy

Kia Carnival is available in the top-spec Limousine trim in India. The design of the India-spec version of the MPV is identical to its international counterpart. Up front, the 2024 Carnival features the signature Tiger Nose grille. This grille is flanked on either side by Intelligent Ice Cube LED Projection Headlamps (ILED) and Starmap Daytime Running Lights (SDRL). The profile of the MPV is similar to its outgoing version. The facelift rests on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The LED tail lamps at the back are connected by a sleek LED light bar.

Inside, the 2024 Kia Carnival is decked with exciting features. The MPV’s dashboard is studded with dual 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. Other features include a tilt & telescopic steering wheel, automatic anti-glare IVRM, automatic temperature control, ambient lighting, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, an 11-inch Head-Up display, wireless charging, and more. The 7-seat layout is arranged in a 2 + 2 + 3 layout. The captain seats in the middle row are equipped with heating, ventilation, and leg support functions.

The Level 2 ADAS package on Kia Carnival consists of 23 autonomous features including Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Front Collision Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop/ Go, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind-spot Collision Warning & Avoidance Assist, Rear-cross Traffic Collision Warning & Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, and more.

Powering the Kia Carnival is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 193hp and 441Nm of torque. It can be paired with an 8-speed torque converter gearbox. In comparison, the Carnival that was discontinued last year produced 186hp and 440Nm.

Conclusion

The Kia Carnival facelift is currently on track to outperform its outgoing version despite the higher price. The outgoing version recorded a sale of 14,542 units in its 3 years of operation. In 2022, Kia sold almost 3,500 units of the Carnival in India. The MPV rivals the Toyota Innova HyCross and Toyota Vellfire.
